How to Stay Warm and Cozy Living in an RV This Winter
Living in an RV during the winter can be exciting, but it can also be chilly and tricky if you’re not ready. At Tejano Ranch RV Park, we want to help you enjoy your winter while staying cozy and comfortable. Here are some simple tips to make RV living enjoyable and memorable (the good kind of memories).
1. Keep the Cold Out
Add thick curtains or reflective covers to your windows to block the cold air.
Use weatherproof tape or foam to seal up any little cracks around doors and windows.
If you can, put skirting (a cover) around the bottom of your RV to stop chilly winds from sneaking in.
2. Stay Warm Inside
Use small space heaters to warm up your RV without using too much propane.
Put cozy rugs on the floor to keep your feet warm, you can even layer them for extra coziness!
Wrap yourself in a warm blanket with your favorite cozy socks.
3. Keep Your RV Safe from Freezing
Protect your water pipes with heat tape or foam so they don’t freeze.
Keep your water tank half-full so it doesn’t freeze too easily.
Drip your faucets a little during freezing nights to stop the pipes from bursting.
4. Watch Out for Wetness
In winter, your RV can get damp inside. Use a dehumidifier to keep the air dry.
When you cook, cover your pots to keep steam from adding moisture to the air.
Open a window for a few minutes each day to let fresh air in and keep your RV feeling nice.
5. Get Ready for Winter Weather
Keep extra propane, water, and snacks in case the weather gets bad.
Make an emergency kit with flashlights, batteries, and warm clothes.
Stock up on your favorite teas and soup essentials.
6. Have Fun in the Cold
Enjoy cold winter walks at Lake Ray Roberts or cuddle around a fire pit and roast some smokes.
Make your RV feel cozy and warm by adding string lights, a hot chocolate bar, and your favorite puzzles.
